Feature – Kira Kira

Relations between Iceland and the UK aren’t that great at the moment. I don’t really know why, but it’s got something to do with Gordon, I think… After some hard-nosed investigating I’ve come to the conclusion that Icelandic people want to bomb us but being the well educated sort, they’re going to trick us first. Well not by me they’re not!

Kira Kira runs Kitchen Motors with Jóhann Jóhannsson and Hilmar Jensson. The grass roots of the music is made with toys however contributors often provide more standardised instrumentation. There’s probably some Freudian complex to explain my love of Circuit Bending (Means nothing to you? See here). It’d probably be about deprived youth or another synthetic psychobabble theory, however I wouldn’t want to be so audacious as to make claim to one. Kira Kira also works as a visual artist, specialising in the use of Super 8 cameras and is making a film about Sigríður Níelsdóttir.
