“Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Finders Keepers and Jean Pierre Massiera!”
Finders Keepers have truly excelled themselves. This double sided slice of ‘frenzy listening’ (I hope you’re taking notes) has been released on a super-limited pressing in advance of a Massiera LP due out next March. Part wig-out part French Beat, Bonne Année skips tempo and shuffles between sounds as an unconventional rendition of ‘Silent Night’.
As far ahead as it is far-out, Massiera is acclaimed for his nonchalance towards convention. The record is a self-conscious outré introduciton to his work. The two tracks, presumably recorded 1967 and 1968 are designed as dance records to bring in the new year with a new sound. Although they are 40 years old, I’ve never heard yuletide records like ’em.
