I first saw the Middle One’s at indietracks where they played in an overheating recreated church. On record the vocals are crisp and clear, which stands in sharp contrast with shows, where they float in a sea of drones and irregular percussion. The real achievement of this band is that they capture heartbreak in the most unexpected places; For example, Goodnight Song, a lovers lament, equally extols childlike excitement and maternal instinct whilst tending the narrative around the tentative promise, “I will treasure you”.
Warm and nourishing, like tasty soup. Click photo 4 results.
