Leafcutter John

If there was any justice in this world Lamar would not be my man and nor would I be his girl, instead, Leafcutter John (real name John Burton) would be heralded as the saviour of UK folk.  

There are plenty of bearded indie boys roaming this island with laptops, loop pedals, voice boxes and the like. I have this image of UK motorways in 2006 being clogged with delivery vans of electronics being followed by the endlessly touring nu-folk collective chasing their next hi-tech fix. However, if there is a band to calm this storm of novelty hysteria it is Leafcutter John. Now a permanent member of the sublime Polar Bear he’s been pressing records since 1998 and is currently working on a new piece for the next Kämmer Klang using graphic notation projected before the musicians. Ok so the projection part sounds like a bit of a gimmick but you can’t knock him for trying.
