Widower

What’s happening with Seattle these days. It’s meant to be booming with the anticipated trade from the east, however the bands are all migrating to LA. However, Widower – originally hailing from New Jersey – have vacated NYC for the Emerald City. 

For the most part they sound like hicks covering Ryan Adams (who’s apparently quitting music). They could don Cowboy boots and smoke Marlboro Reds. They could soundtrack a Budweiser advert. They could play SXSW and the Superbowl. They could top the student radio billboards. However they do none of these things. Instead they wear outlandish headgear!

After panning through their records, track The Antidote is an alt.country golden nugget. It’s a song about suicide featuring a pedal steel, a musical-saw solo and is available here as a split 7″ with Quiet Life – maybe if this band did move to LA they’d stop peddling so many clichés?
