Repressed on Daptone Records imprint Ever-Soul, Eddie & Ernie are two slick soul brothers from Phoenix, Arizona. They pressed a selection of singles over the 60’s on Chess, Columbia and Buddah, when they used to perform with a house band on the club circuit. Ernest Johnson Jr. and Eddie William Campbell, to give their full names, never achieved the stratospheric success of their peers (who included Wilson Pickett) and by ’71 joined Phoenix Express to see in their – arguably premature – twilight years.
Their biggest hit was Time Waits For No One and can be heard on this new compilation of their complete recordings, which is boss.
