Joker/2000F & J Kamata

joker

So it’s out. The hyperbole can be found in the forums, the record can be found in the stores, so what are you doing just sitting there?

It’s hard not to avoid the excitement over this record for many reasons.  Asked in a recent interview if he thought that the dubstep scene is changing Joker responded, “It’s going mad bonkers here”. Although I’m uncertain as to whether that’s a tautology or a legitimate west country description I can only hope that it’s intended as a gross understatement.

Joker signifies a lot of things but most of all he highlights the potential of Bristol to take the music that is dyed into its fabric and continually drive it forward. If Joker is less popular than his London peers, it’s wholly undeserved on their behalf.

There are many speculations that this record is the new sound of dubstep. Whether this statement can be justified or not in time,is a question for the collectors and historians. In the meantime, get out, get requesting, get digging.
